Larkey Sharks Swim Team

Larkey is a recreational swim team, one of over 60 recreational teams throughout Contra Costa County whose swimmers range from 4 to 18 yrs of age. Larkey is part of the 8-team Walnut Creek Swim Conference (WCSC). We swim each of the other teams in our conference once during a season, plus several non-conference meets and invitationals.

The Larkey Sharks have a distinct sense of spirit, camaraderie, and a culture that has developed since the team was founded in 1960. The combined efforts of the swimmers, coaches and families have resulted in very successful seasons, in which Larkey secured the WCSC championship for four years in a row. We are looking forward to swimming another stellar season, and we will have a good time doing it.

Larkey Aquatic Programing’s Stay and Play: June 10 - July 26, 2024

Shark Tank is a new program starting summer 2024 for Larkey Sharks Swimmers ages 5 and up. Think mini-summer camp for your swimmers before and after practice (drop off beginning at 8:45, pickup by 1:00 Monday-Friday). We will play organized games, do crafts and provide a light morning snack.

Shark Tank will be held in the back picnic area, across the bridge.

Shark Tank swimmers will need to arrive in their swimsuits with all their swim gear, a labeled water bottle and a labeled snack and/or lunch.

Shark Tank swimmers and leaders will have a 6:1 ratio. Enrollment is limited to 24 children per day.

Swimmers are expected to stay in the Shark Tank area and wear their blue wristband. Assistants will supervise/take kids to the restroom or to the basketball court. Shark Tank participants are not allowed in the pool unless it is their swim team practice time.

Shark Tank group leaders will be Larkey Sharks very own 11-14 year old swimmers. These swimmers will be trained in American Red Cross Babysitting with Pediatric CPR & First Aid. These leaders and their groups will be supervised by our Shark Tank Director to ensure the safety and enjoyment of your children. The Shark Tank Director will be a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard who will report each day to the Larkey Aquatics Program Director Amy Mason.

If your child is interested in becoming a Shark Tank group leader, please download this form, fill it out and email it to the Larkey Aquatics Program Director Amy Mason. Shark Tank Assistant's Paperwork is due by Friday April 26th.

Behavior Policy

We want Shark Tank to be fun and safe for everyone. Our policy is Three Strikes and You're Out.

  • Disruptive or inappropriate behavior gets a warning.
  • If the behavior continues, a time out is given, and the child gets one more chance to make a better choice.
  • If the behavior persists, the Aquatic Programs Director Amy Mason or Shark Tank Director Camryn Crepeau, Olivia James, or Morgan Marsh will call the child's parents to come pick her/him up and the child will not participate in any further activities until picked up. The Shark Tank co-directors will be notified and will make the decision as to whether a child will be able to continue in Shark Tank depending on the severity of the incident.
